Why do so many just accept crazy theology without even thinking about it?

I do believe this is where the whole brainwashing theory comes in. When young children who are taught not to question get ears full of this stuff on a regular basis then it starts to take deep root in the mind. By the time they reach an age of questioning they don't really think to question religion because it is just the worst sin ever...
