Is 16 too old to be playing Yu-gi-oh competitively?

ok, im 14 and i just got back into the game and i really enjoy it, and at the local tournament in my city every week, the majority of people are almost adults , so the way i think of the game is not of a childrens card game considering that most of the good cards are in the upwards of $50 which no 7 year old could afford.
