If your allergic to domestic cats, are you also allergic to exotic cats?

I'm a zoology student that has worked with cheetahs and tigers. I spoke with a woman the other day that is allergic to domestic cats. She asked me if she would also be allergic to exotic cats like tigers. I'm back and forth on my reasoning and really couldn't come to a conclusion. Anybody know for sure and preferably with reasons to back it up? Thanks
