I'm buying a used 1982 Pontiac Firebird, need advice. Engine Ether...? Battery? Things to consider?
These older v8 cars are pretty easy to work on, generally there is a lot of space to work under the hood, and they are good cars to learn on. I don't know about it needing a special battery, but it will probably need a big battery, you should be able to get one almost anywhere though, just get one with a 3 year warranty. Since it's an 82 it has a carburetor, so to get it to start you will have to press the gas, or if the carburetor need to be rebuilt you will have to spray some starter fluid into the carburetor itself to get it started. This car would make a great drag race car, or cruiser. if you want a daily driver though I would get something a bit newer, with fuel injection, a smaller motor, better safety features, etc.
