Hot rollers for my hair type?

so i'm going shopping with my mom and sister on monday for my birthday! YAY! haha, and i wanted to look really cute and all because..its a mall...and its my birthday...anyways, i was thinking of doing hot rollers on my hair but here's my hair type: thick, dark, about an inch past my collar bone. i have done hot rollers in the past with this kind of hair but i had longer hair i believe in most cases. i'm afraid of it looking too shirley temple and everything but the thing is i think because its sooo thick it will weigh it down and gradually loosen up a lot. what do you think?
